Workout Detox: Declutter Your Routine

With life growing increasingly busy, it's all too easy to let our fitness regimes become a messy afterthought. We are continually overloaded with social media posts telling us to try new things, or how we should be working out, so it's no wonder we can overload our workouts. It's the New Year, and time to throw out the junk and declutter your workout, getting back to basics. Take a look at our top 5 workouts for women and best 5 workouts for men if you're in need of some inspiration.

#1 Double up

Choose exercises like chin-ups or pull-ups which target multiple muscle groups at the same time. This is a time-effective way to get the most out of your routine, without complicated equipment or moves.

#2 Cut the fads

Forget about what is the current trend. It might be popular, and we certainly recommend trying new things, but if you chase every single fad which comes your way you'll end up feeling overwhelmed, and have a stash of expensive equipment which you won't use. Try to focus on keeping things simple and aim for measurable progress.

#3 Let someone else think for you

If you're over saturated with fitness inspiration hitting you left, right and centre, then let someone else organise your routine for you. Either work with a personal trainer or in a class to get a workout which will push you in the right direction. A bit of direction when working out can be the difference between a mediocre hour spent in the gym, semi-pushing yourself, and a full-on highly efficient workout done in half the time.

If your workouts are becoming too complex then strip it back to the bare bones and try to remember what's most important. The clearer you have your workout in your mind, the stronger your motivation, and your workouts will become more sustainable.
